We're not actually heading to Fort Lauderdale today but Jacksonville, Florida. Jacksonville is in the northeastern part of the state, it hosts gorgeous beaches and I have no doubt sees its share of spring break revelers, so the most likely outdated movie reference is appropriate.
Our featured blogger today, Kristin, is a great photographer with an eye for the funny, so lets head on over to see her!

Please leave Kristin a comment and let her know the BlogTrotters appreciate the tour!

And now for the Field Trip Friday topic! One of the writing tips they gave us at Blogher '10, which I attended this past weekend, was when you're blocked to pick a color and write about it. How it makes you feel, places or people it brings to mind. So since I'm still recovering from Blogher hangover, I'm going to take a page out of that book and throw this out there:
YELLOW
And GO! Come back on Friday and link up your posts!
Welcome!
First stop on your tour: hit the About page to find out why and how Blogtrotting came to be. BlogTrotter in Paradise
I have to confess that I am NOT a Jimmy Buffett fan, but despite this, whenever I think of southern Florida I can't help but think of his music. I suspect if I were actually eating a Cheeseburger while sipping a margarita IN southern Florida, my opinion might change, but who knows.
Our featured blogger today, Holly at Tropic of Mom, is a longtime bloggy friend of mine and I'm so delighted that she's going to give us a tour today because I've been looking at her pictures of the paradise she calls home for two years now and I want to know more!
So let's head on over to see her!

Destination Destin
For several years, my family spent spring break in Destin, Florida. A large group of families from my hometown would rent condos there for the week, and these trips are some of the best and most memorable I have ever taken.
If you have not been to Destin, you are missing out. The beaches are gorgeous, the sunsets divine, and the vibe nice and chill. It's not party, party, party all the time. It's also not a retirement mecca in the same way that other Florida spots are (not that there's anything wrong with early bird specials). In my mind, it's just perfect.
That's why I cannot wait for today's BlogTrotting tour of Destin, brought to us by the talented Tara R. of If Mom Says OK. Be sure to check out the awesome quotation on Tara R.'s blog header and try not be as envious of her fantastic blog title as I am!

I Like Florida in the Springtime
Mine was one of the thousands of families that sojourned (by van, of course) from Ohio to Florida every April for spring break. As a result, I always associate Florida with Easter candy, the month of April, and happy memories with family and friends.
Florida is a place to escape the "everyday world" for some and is, in fact, the "everyday world" for others. I love learning more about real life in Florida. How about you?
Today's tour guide is Denise. As the name of her blog implies, she's go go go. In her words, "some days are a blur." Let's join her in Land O' Lakes, Florida . . .
Please leave Denise a comment to let her know you stopped by and share any of your own Florida memories.
Stay tuned for more Blogtrotting tomorrow!

On our way to the F-L-A!
So I titled this post, and then my buzzkill husband pointed out that the official postal abbreviation for Florida is "FL" not "FLA." Sorry!
Also, does anyone else have the problem that anytime you type the word "Florida" you actually type "Floriday"? Happens to me almost every single time, but the good news is that this Friday is Floriday . . . a day to learn about everyday life in the Sunshine State.
Our teacher and tour guide for today's BlogTrotting mission is Melissa from My Version of Sanity. If you have an extra minute, make sure to read this post about the most unbelievably-priced Disney trip ever! I am mucho envious.
Okay, are you ready? To Patalka, FL we go:

Have a great weekend and see you back here Monday for another trip to my neck of the woods -- Chicagoland!

The Sunshine State
Didn't I say we'd be heading for some warmer weather! Our next stop is in Fort White, Florida with Michelle. I checked the weather and while there are some clouds on the horizon, the high will be about 70, which, if you're anywhere like where I am (it's 26 degrees right now, brrrr), that sounds positively divine. Oh, and the drink I mentioned yesterday is Gatorade, named after the University of Florida Gators. So head on over to:

As always, be sure to leave a comment and let her know where you call home! Tomorrow, we'll be turning back north. Here's a hint:
The first peanuts grown in the United States were grown here.
